About Folsom

A CITY THAT KNOWS HOW TO HAVE FUN

Folsom welcomes visitors with wonderful recreational opportunities, excellent dining experiences, and a wide variety of shopping destinations.

The crystal clear waters of the American River feed into Folsom Lake, providing fresh water for the region and endless opportunities for water sports or quiet contemplation.  Miles of biking and jogging trails wind through Folsom’s neighborhood greenbelts, connecting to the American River Bike Trail, which extends all the way to the Golden State’s capital city,Sacramento.

Folsom offers wonderful recreational activities right in your backyard.  There’s Folsom Lake, Lake Natoma and the American River with boating, water skiing, swimming, hiking, biking on the American River bike trail, horseback riding, and fishing.

The Sutter Street historic district has 80+ shops and restaurants, big box stores and the upscale Palladio at Broadstone, (the 54 acre open-air mall) plus Folsom Premium Outlets is available for those who enjoy shopping.

Folsom Parks and Recreation offers activities for all ages.  The Folsom Zoo is a favorite with families. There are concerts in Folsom City Lions Park in June and July and Wednesday night concerts in June at Palladio.

Features of interest in the City’s Civic Center include the Folsom Community Center, the Folsom Public Library, the Gallery at 48 Natoma, the Folsom Senior Center, sports fields, a picnic area and gazebo, and more. The animals at the adjacent Folsom City Zoo Sanctuary charm and educate youngsters and the young at heart.

Rich in history

Learn about the Maidu Indians who first lived here, the gold prospectors who sought their fortunes, the Chinese who built the railroads, the Pony Express, the pioneers who settled here, the origins of Folsom Prison, and how Johnny Cash ended up singing the “Folsom Prison Blues” – all at the Folsom History Museum.

The Folsom Historical Society hosts a number of museums in the Historic District, including the Museum of Wonder & Delight and the Folsom Pioneer Village.  Down the road from Sutter Street, visitors hear tales of prisoners and their guards from a retired prison guard at the Folsom Prison Museum, located in front of the grounds of the notorious California prison itself.

Let us entertain you

The City of Folsom is always bustling with activity. Annual community events include a Renaissance Faire, a Spring Eggstravaganza, Concerts in the Park, and a Run with Nature.

From live local theater to the latest cinema, and everything in between, Folsom has it all.  The Harris Center on the campus of Folsom Lake Community College hosts hundreds of events every year. Every seat in the house is a great seat when concerts, off-Broadway Theater, and numerous other acts come to town.

A shopper’s paradise

Friendly merchants are here to help you find that perfect item in Folsom. Unique local merchants, such as those in the Historic District, offer boutique, one-of-a-kind shopping. The Folsom Premium Outlets and the Palladio Shopping Center at Broadstone offer the national trends. Folsom’s merchants work hard to make shopping convenient and a pleasure.

"Kathi was experienced and knowledgeable, we felt she had our best interest and were easy to work with, always happy to assist. I feel her expertise and knowledge is what sold our home in 3 days with 10 offers over asking price. (Pretty awesome!)"

"Tom has been truly exceptional to work with. Can’t say enough about our experience with Tom. He helped us purchase our home and when it was time to sell it, we went right back to him. He is extremely professional, punctual, responsive, and got us an amazing price on our home. My husband and I are very busy and he made the entire process seamless and simply a breeze. He knows the area extremely well, and gave us perfect advice on how to position things. Really, Tom is amazing and can’t recommend him highly enough!"
